Messiah & More

patron-reviews-800pxMessiah & More – December 3 in Leamington, December 4 in Windsor

I loved every second of the Vivaldi Gloria! The soloists communicated their love of the music through their voices and their expressive faces. The contralto also deserves kudos for singing the tenor part in the Messiah. I was a bit surprised not to hear the Amen chorus, though. It is somehow fitting to end with the standing ovation for the Hallelujah chorus, but it felt  unfinished to me. Still thoroughly enjoyed it, nonetheless! I’m looking forward to hearing the WEYC on Dec. 17 – Susie, Leamington

It was great! What more can you say?! – Anonymous

The sound and performance were perfect.  Ste Anne’s is a wonder sound chamber to here beautiful music.  We sat in centre back third to gain best sound quality. I was specially impressed with the Solo Soprano. – Paul, Windsor

Peter Wiebe shepherded a briskly coherent performance of all forces. Alas, Vivaldi’s Gloria is a rather conventional work. The truncated Messiah was sorely missing “The Trumpet Shall Sound,” and particularly “Worthy is the Lamb” and blissful Amen. Messiah will usually be cut but not quite so extensively. – Harry, Windsor

One word – fabulous! – Fernand, Windsor

Excellent concert with fine guest singers and an at times over-powering chorus (especially the altos!). Peter Wiebe did a masterful job conducting. – Bill, Harrow
